I came today feeling incredibly frustrated with my progress in swimming. Despite my efforts, I’m struggling to swim a full length without feeling completely out of breath, and I can’t seem to hold my breath for more than a few seconds at a time.

While my swimming instructor tells me that good runners often take time to become good swimmers, the reality is that progress is slow and hard to measure. It’s discouraging to feel like I’m not making any headway, despite dedicating time and effort towards improving.

To add to my frustration, I recently discovered that I need to get my vaccines again for entry into paramedic school. While I understand the importance of vaccinations, it’s frustrating to bear the financial burden of something that should be standard, and even more so to have to navigate the healthcare system and deal with doctors who seem indifferent to their patient’s needs.

These roadblocks make it easy to feel discouraged and want to give up on my goals. However, persistence and determination are essential for success in the pool and in life. Despite the setbacks, I must continue to push myself and persevere, no matter how difficult it may seem.

So, to all those struggling with their pursuits, know that you are not alone. Challenges are a natural part of growth, and it’s important to remain steadfast in the face of adversity. Significant achievements often require the most substantial effort, and dedication will ultimately be rewarded. Or it may all go downhill; who knows?
